Discover Shea Butter
Shea butter has been sought-after for centuries for its moisturizing and healing properties—and with good reason. Extracted from the nut of the Karite tree (Vitellaria paradoxa) native to the tropics of East and West Africa, shea is packed with vitamins A and E, and fatty acids like oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids—nutrients necessary for maintaining the elasticity and suppleness of your skin, and nourishing your hair. Use it on everything from sunburn to household burns, craggy cuticles to cracked heels, minor cuts to surgical scars, stretch marks to diaper rash. The possibilities are endless.
Certified Organic Grade A Shea - White shea butters are stripped from their natural color and nutty aroma, destroying nutrients and antioxidants. Our shea butter is raw, unrefined and ivory- the way any high quality shea butter should be.
Softer, Creamier Texture - Most shea butters are in block form, making them difficult to spread and apply to skin. Our Ugandan shea has a higher oleic content, lending a silky smooth consistency for everyday hair and skin care.
DIY Soaps and Lotions - Shea butter is so versatile it can be used in any homemade beauty recipe. Fill soap moulds with shea butter, essential oils and coconut oil as natural skin food.
Nourishing Body Butter - Apply shea butter after showering to keep skin plump, supple and youthful. Nutrients like vitamins A, E and essential fatty acids found in shea soothe dry rough patches. Can be used as an everyday moisturizer too!
Stretch Mark Rescue - As a hydrating emollient, shea butter is an inexpensive alternative to lotions and ointments. Apply to affected areas to help fade the look of stretch marks and replace lost fatty acids.

How We're Different
Viva Naturals Nilotica Shea Butter is extracted from the nuts of the Karite tree, native to East and West Africa. Unlike West African shea which is often hard and difficult to spread, our Ugandan shea has a higher oleic acid content, which lends a softer and creamier texture for a silky smooth finish.
Softer. Creamier. More spreadable. You can see the difference in Viva Naturals Nilotica Shea Butter straight out of the jar. Our shea butter is extracted from the nut of Karite trees in Uganda, which produce a shea that is higher in oleic acid, resulting in a soft, smooth texture just like, well, butter! Unlike West African shea, which is often hard and difficult to spread, you don’t need to melt our shea to make the most of it.
If that’s not reason enough to stock up (it is!), our 100% pure Grade A shea butter is raw, unbleached, unrefined, and certified organic. It’s extremely gentle on the skin and suitable for various skin types. That said, since shea is a tree nut and has naturally-occurring latex (it’s what makes it so good at moisturizing), those with sensitivities or allergies to either should test it on a small patch of skin first.
Viva Naturals does not test on animals.
Ways to Enjoy
Shea butter is high in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E—all the better to keep your skin elastic and supple. In fact, participants in one clinical study showed clearer, brighter, younger-looking skin (and even less sun damage) after massaging shea butter into their skin for 4-8 months. Apply it on its own, or with a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
To create your own indulgent body butter, mash or mix together a 1/4 cup of Viva Naturals Nilotica Shea Butter with a 1/4 cup of Viva Naturals Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, then mix in a few drops of your favorite essential oil until it’s all well-combined. Transfer to a container and store in a cool dark place.
Shea butter is the ultimate mane moisturizer. Use it to soften dry or brittle hair, tame fragile curls, condition processed or color-treated hair, and even protect your strands from the sun (or soothe a sunburned scalp). For a restorative hair mask, apply it overnight, then rinse the following day and style as usual.
Shea saves the day even as a nightly eye cream, like this all-natural de-puffing DIY, which has just two ingredients. Mix 1 tablespoon of shea butter with three drops of rosemary oil. Massage the mixture under your eyes, using a circular motion, while being careful not to get it in your eyes.
