When in doubt, put some coconut oil on it! All kidding aside, coconut oil can be used for almost anything, from cooking and baking, to hair and beauty DIYs. If coconut oil isn’t already part of your beauty routine, check out our blog on5 Coconut Oil Beauty Hacks.
One of our favorite beauty secrets is using coconut oil as a nourishing hair-care treatment. Since coconut oil is rich in fatty acids, it’s naturally talented at conditioning and moisturizing. Here are a few great ideas for using coconut oil in your hair care regimen:
Nutrient rich, coconut oil is full of fatty acids that penetrate hair follicles for deep conditioning. Restore moisture to dry hair with a coconut oil hair mask by applying one tablespoon of melted coconut oil (more if you have long hair), and letting it sit for 1-2 hours before shampooing thoroughly. For an intensive treatment, leave overnight and wash out in the morning.
If you struggle with your hair becoming easily tangled, coconut oil can help keep you knot-free. Apply to wet hair to work through those post-shower tangles, or add a little to dry hair that looks and feels like a hot mess! Rub a small amount of oil between your hands and gently work through the knots, then comb out.
Shed the Snake Skin
Some hair care products can cause an itchy, scaling scalp, and that can lead to dandruff. Applying coconut oil directly to your scalp can nourish and replace the moisture that it desperately needs to keep those flakes away.
Rise & Shine
Want gorgeously glossy locks? Coconut oil can nourish dry ends, and enhance moisture and shine. Simply apply a small amount to your hair ends before bed, and wake up with soft and shiny hair!
Coconut oil is a versatile oil that can be used as part of your natural skin and hair care routine. Which beauty hack will you try first? Share in the comments your favorite way to use coconut oil!
