- We purchased your Cacao Nibs a week ago off of Amazon, and were caught off guard by the fact that they don't soften, or melt into what they are being added to and that they taste bitter and do not taste chocolaty at all, was expecting they taste a little bit like chocolate chips as they are advertised as natures chocolate chips.
- Hi Dale, thank you for reaching out. Cacao nibs are not like chocolate chips. Chocolate chips contain sugar, fats and milk ingredients that melt when exposed to heat; cacao nibs will not melt. Our Cacao Nibs are roasted to develop the characteristic flavors and aromas. Contrary to popular chocolate, which is often co-mixed with additional flavorings, sweeteners, and added fats, our cacao nibs are found in their natural state with no added ingredients. To counterbalance the natural acidic and slightly bitter qualities of cacao, our nibs pair well in recipes that contain fats such as olive oil, butter, and coconut oil, as well as flavorful seasonings. As an everyday snack, it is somewhat of an acquired taste, which is why we recommend sprinkling our nibs as toppings on smoothie bowls, chia pudding, yogurt or oatmeal! If you'd like to give our nibs another try, try them in this delicious smoothie recipe! - ½ a frozen banana - 1 tablespoon of peanut or almond butter - 1 one cup of almond or coconut milk - 1 tablespoon of Viva Naturals Organic Cacao Nibs *Blend and enjoy!
