Unique Ways to Spend Mother’s Day This Year

Let’s face it, moms are the best. Whether it’s your own mother, grandmother, wife, or mother figure, these women play pivotal roles in our lives. So once a year, we set aside a day to celebrate them — Mother’s Day. A day to make mom feel special and appreciated for all that she does.

This year, with COVID-19 and social distancing, Mother's Day celebrations will have to take place at a distance. Unless you live with the mom you’ll be celebrating, you’re going to have to get a little creative. To give you some help, we’ve come up with a few fun and unique ways to celebrate mom this Mother’s Day!

Virtual Party

By now, we’re all pretty familiar with Zoom. Whether you use it for work, school, yoga, or to connect with friends, group video calls is where it’s at. Even when you can’t physically be near, video chats can bring your family closer. This weekend, set up a family chat to connect with Mom. Throw up some decorations, dress up, and bring everyone together — which is really what matters the most to Mom!

day off

Day Off

Pretty packages and Instagram-worthy gift wrapping can definitely wow, but at the end of the day, mom just wants a break. If you live with a mom, give her the day off. Clean the house, do the laundry, prepare the meals — do everything for her so she doesn’t have to lift a finger. By freeing up her time, she can rest, relax, and do the activities she really wants to do.

movie night

Movie Night

Do you and mom love watching movies together? Just because you can’t be together doesn’t mean you can’t continue on your tradition of movie night. Netflix Party has quickly become a popular app that allows you to watch movies together online. And, it’s simple enough to use: download the extension, start your show on Netflix, then share the link with Mom to get the party started!

Okay, we know this is nothing new but hear us out — everyone loves to get flowers! Despite having to maintain social distancing, spring has sprung and we’ve been missing the opportunity to see all the lovely blooms. If mom is cooped up inside, flowers are the perfect way to brighten up her day! Flower delivery companies are definitely open and able to accommodate contact-free delivery. Pick a lovely bouquet full of mom’s favorite colors or blooms to put a smile on her face.

Under normal circumstances, Mother’s Day is an occasion to put on your Sunday best, share a meal, and celebrate Mom face-to-face. This year, get creative with new ideas to celebrate from a distance. We promise, she’ll love the time and effort to show your appreciation. How will you celebrate Mother’s Day this year?
