jar of spiced sugar scrub

Vanilla Chai Tea Sugar Scrub

Recipe from DIY Natural

The warming spices of chai tea provide the perfect fall scent and when mixed with sugar and coconut oil, create a gentle scrub to exfoliate. Whip this up to slough off any dead skin in the bath or shower — hello, soft and supple skin!

Ingredients

contents of 5 chai tea bags

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup white granulated sugar

½ tsp ground cinnamon

6 tbsp coconut oil, room temperature (or sub with sweet almond oil or alternative carrier oil)

1 tsp honey

2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Cut open tea bags and empty into a medium sized bowl. Add sugars and cinnamon and mix well. Add vanilla, honey, and coconut oil.
  2. Mash coconut oil in with a fork and stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Transfer to jar, seal, and label. Shelf life is about one year.

To Use

  1. Apply after cleansing in the shower. Rub sugar scrub gently over entire body in a circular motion to exfoliate skin. Rinse off with warm water, then pat skin dry with a towel.
  2. Apply your favorite moisturizer or body oil to soften skin and help lock in moisture.

jar of yellow paste with turmeric powder

Turmeric Face Mask

This mask does it all! Ground oats gently exfoliate while honey moisturizes your skin. Turmeric is a warm yellow spice that’s perfect for fall and has been touted as a natural skin-brightening ingredient.

Ingredients

½ tsp organic turmeric

1 tbsp ground oats

2 tbsp organic plain yogurt*

1 tsp raw honey

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients in a small bowl and mix into a thick paste.
  2. Using a clean makeup brush or your fingers, apply to your face. The coarse texture of the ground oats will gently exfoliate while the turmeric provides a calming effect on the skin.

*NOTE: Milk or yogurt needs to be added to the mask in order to act as a barrier to the turmeric. Otherwise, the turmeric will temporarily stain your skin!

honey apple cider vinegar and olive oil bottles with apples

Ingredients

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

3 tbsp raw honey

1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

  1. In a small bowl whisk apple cider vinegar, honey and olive oil until a smooth mask is formed.
  2. Apply the hair mask using your fingers onto your scalp and hair.
  3. Leave the mask in for 10 - 15 mins, rinse off the hair mask with 2 - 3 washes of warm water or shampoo as desired.
  4. For dry, damaged hair, apply mask twice a week. For oily hair types, apply once every other week.
